Howard Wayne Jones, 77, of Lampasas died at his home April 11, 2023.

Visitation will be at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on April 15 from 4-6 p.m.

Services will be April 16 at 2 p.m., also at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Wallace Creek Cemetery in San Saba.

Wayne was born Aug. 31, 1945 in Post to Raymond and Leona Jones. He was raised in San Saba and graduated from San Saba High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years, with time spent in both Germany and Korea.

After his military service, Wayne worked for the Texas DPS as a highway patrolman and then had a bread delivery route with Rainbow Bread. After this, he was employed with TxDOT as an inspector for 26 years.

After retiring, Wayne and his younger son Allan purchased a ranch together. Wayne really enjoyed his time working out there, building fences and barns, and raising sheep, goats and cattle. He thoroughly enjoyed being outside and working with his hands.

Wayne was a believer, and his Christian faith and family were the most important things to him. He was a man who accomplished quite a bit, including earning an MBA degree.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sandra Jones of Lampasas; sons Michael Jones of New Jersey, and Allan Jones and wife Laura Barker-Jones of Georgetown; his daughter, Susan Jones of Lampasas; a brother, Jody Jones of Arkansas; sister, Mary Woods of Llano; and grandchildren Gavin Jones, Aaron Jones, Ryan Jones and Sarah Jones.
