Nancy K. Hepler, 87, died on April 23, 2024 at home in Lampasas.

Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel is assisting locally with the cremation services. A graveside service provided by Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, Illinois, will take place at Lakeview Cemetery on May 17 at 11 a.m.

Nancy was born on Aug. 11, 1936, in Joliet, Illinois, to James and Mary McNeil Foster.

Her family moved to Johnston City, where she graduated from Johnston City High and later took classes through John A. Logan College.

Nancy married John F. Hepler Jr. in Hernando, Mississippi. They were married for 52 years.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Johnston City, a Girl Scout leader, and loved her extended family greatly. She instigated many adventures into the great outdoors for camping trips, bird watching and river float trips, but made sure her family also went to art and natural history museums.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Laura; son, John Hepler III; sister, Jackie White; and granddaughter, Sundee Barbero.

She is survived by her daughter Joni (Jerry) Barbero of Lampasas; son Guy Hepler of Carlsbad, New Mexico; brothers Jim (Faye) Foster in Tennessee and Bill (Kim) Cox in Illinois; a special sister-in-law, Mary Ray Foster; as well as numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
