A memorial service will be held at Adamsville Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on May 4. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Patricia was born on Oct. 14, 1944, in Avon, South Dakota, to William Bernard and Henrietta Carol (Giedd) Schroder.

She grew up in Avon, South Dakota, and Estes Park, Colorado. She graduated from Avon High School in 1962.

After high school, she married Richard Slonecker and raised a family in Nebraska.

Patricia spent the majority of her career with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services as a service coordinator where she worked with the developmentally disabled. She retired in 2007.

She befriended those she met without regard for their station in life or social status. She fiercely defended those who were unable to defend themselves.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Lowell Schroder.

Meyers, Florida; her grandchildren Matthew (Charity) Leikam, Weston Junker (Katelyn Richter), Devin (Tessa) Gall, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Slonecker, Shane (Stephanie) Barbre, Sarah (Ian) Harper, Tyler (Micaela) Wilshusen, Megan (Jared) Haag, Cody Helmink and Micaila Helmink; and by 21 great-grandchildren.
